5 Tips for Breast Augmentation Recovery

Breast augmentation gives you a chance to change the way your breasts look. There are many reasons you may feel like doing this, a lot of which are rooted in self-confidence issues.

However, many women undergo breast augmentation for other reasons – it’s entirely up to you. The process can be rather extensive, which is why it’s important to know how to deal with the recovery process.

Breast Augmentation Overview

The purpose of breast augmentation surgery is to enhance or change your breast size and shape. This makes them more proportional to your body, and it can boost your self-esteem by having larger and more well-rounded breasts.

Dr. Brenman offers multiple implant options to consider and can provide computer simulations of how your breasts will look after the treatment, letting you know what to expect. Breast augmentation is just one of the many breast treatments available for you to try.

5 Tips for Breast Augmentation Recovery

Naturally, there will be a recovery period required after undergoing surgery on your breasts. To make this period as comfortable as possible, we advise following these five tips:

#1 Arrange a Ride to and From Surgery

You will need someone to take you home from surgery as you are unable to drive following the procedure. It is much easier if you arrange for someone to take you there and pick you up, so you don’t have to worry about getting home.

#2 Prepare a Recovery Space Prior to Your Operation

Make sure you have a recovery space set up at home to stay comfortable while you rest. Do this before your operation so you can go home and immediately fall into your rest space, rather than spending more time up and about getting things ready.

#3 Ensure You Stay Well-Hydrated

Drink lots of water after surgery to help you remain hydrated and to flush out the toxins from the anesthesia. Hydration also prevents dizziness following the surgery, while also flushing out lactic acid and other things from your muscles, stopping them from being too sore.

#4 Stop Smoking Before Your Procedure and During Recovery

Smoking can cause all sorts of complications during breast augmentation surgery. Primarily, the nicotine in cigarettes can cause issues with skin healing, leading to scar or nipple discoloration

#5 Have a Realistic Expectation and Listen to Your Body

You have just undergone a very complex surgery that will tax your body. As such, have realistic expectations following surgery, and don’t push yourself too hard too soon. Most candidates will need a few day’s rest without doing anything before getting back to light activities. Vigorous activities should not be attempted until at least 2-3 weeks after your treatment. Listen to your body; if you feel sore, start doing less and letting yourself heal.

Am I a Candidate for a Breast Augmentation

Are you unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts and want them to be larger and more proportional to your body? If the answer is yes, you could be a candidate for breast augmentation surgery, provided you are a non-smoker and have realistic expectations for the procedure.

This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
