How Does Laser Resurfacing Work?

Laser skin resurfacing can vary, depending on the type of technology being used. However, every laser skin resurfacing treatment has the same goal: to reveal the younger, smoother-looking skin that’s hiding underneath layers of dead skin cells.

At The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery, we offer two different types of laser resurfacing treatments:

During your initial consultation, we’ll help you choose the right laser resurfacing treatment based on your individual skin’s needs.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

You’re a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing if you have wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and other complexion issues that are holding you back from achieving your best skin ever.

How Long Does a Typical Treatment Take?*

A typical treatment takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of laser skin resurfacing procedure being used.

What Results Will I See?

Results are usually visible within the first month of treatment, although you may need to undergo several laser skin resurfacing procedures to see your ideal results.

Is There Any Downtime?

There will be downtime if a CO2 laser is used, however, usually only one treatment is needed. Mild redness and slight swelling for a few days will result after treatment with a radiofrequency device. Be sure to wear sunscreen after your procedure, as your newly revealed skin will be extremely sensitive to the sun’s UV rays.
