How to Sleep After Breast Augmentation Surgery

Women have many reasons for wanting to change the size or shape of their breasts. Dr. Brenman customizes your breast augmentation for beautiful, natural-looking results. Breast augmentation gives many women increased confidence and helps them feel more comfortable with their bodies.

How Does Breast Augmentation Surgery Work?

Breast augmentation takes place under general anesthesia. Dr. Brenman will make incisions around the areola, under the breast, or in the underarm area. All leave minimal scars. Dr. Brenman creates a pocket, places the implants, and then closes the incisions with dissolvable sutures. You will be able to go home a few hours after surgery, although you will need someone to drive you and assist you for a day or two.

Choosing Your Breast Implants

While you may have a specific cup size in mind, we often have trouble visualizing what breasts of that size will look like on us. We use a sizing system and three-dimensional imagery to help you choose the implant that will give you the most natural-looking, attractive results. Both saline and silicone implants can provide excellent results. We usually recommend silicone for those seeking the look and feel of natural breasts.

How to Sleep After Breast Augmentation Surgery

After surgery and during your recovery, you will need to sleep on your back. This allows your breasts to heal and the implants to settle into their position. Most surgeons recommend four to six weeks of sleeping in your back after breast augmentation. Dr. Brenman will give you specific aftercare instructions that include sleeping positions.

After a few days of resting, you can usually return to light activities. If you have a job without much physical activity, you may return to work within a week. You can become more active again in two to three weeks. Exercise such as weight lifting may require a few more weeks of recovery.

Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Good candidates for breast augmentation want to change their breast size or shape. Candidates should not have significant health problems and should not smoke or be prepared to stop. The best candidates have reasonable expectations and want results proportionate to their body shape. Breast augmentation has a very high satisfaction rating, so if you have considered the procedure, take the time to learn more.

What Results Will I See With Breast Augmentation?

Your results will be visible immediately. They will continue to develop for several months as the breasts adjust to the implants. Most people will love their results immediately and become even happier with them over the next few months. Scars will fade during this time and eventually may become almost impossible to notice.

This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
