How Long Does Breast Augmentation Last?

Breasts come in a vast range of shapes and sizes. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your breasts, a breast augmentation can help. You may choose to have breast augmentation to achieve more balanced proportions, enhance your figure, or gain a new breast shape. Regardless of your reasons, breast augmentation can help you feel more confident and attractive.

How Does Breast Augmentation Work?

Breast augmentation places implants that increase breast volume and enhance shape. Dr. Brenman may use incisions around the areola, under the breast, or under the arm to perform the procedure. Implants are placed under the muscle, and the nipple may be relocated to match the new breast shape.

We will use Vectra 3D imaging to let you see how different implants will look. This imaging technology lets your surgeon understand the look you want to achieve and helps you understand what you can expect.

How Long Does Breast Augmentation Last?

While breast implants last in the body for many years, they are not intended to remain in place indefinitely. The longer implants stay in place, the more likely they are to develop issues such as scar tissue buildup, rippling, or an implant rupture. We recommend replacing breast implants every ten to fifteen years. You may have yours replaced sooner if you have issues or want to achieve a different look.

What are the Benefits of Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation can have a powerful effect on your confidence and self-esteem. If you have always felt like small or asymmetrical breasts held you back, this procedure will free you to wear and do whatever makes you happy. You may find that clothes fit better and that your figure looks more balanced and proportional. If you have become used to hiding or disguising breasts that bother you, breast augmentation can help you feel like you finally have breasts that suit your body.

Do I Need Breast Augmentation or a Breast Lift?

These two procedures treat different concerns. Breast augmentation addresses breast size and shape. A breast lift targets sagging and excess skin. Depending on your breast concerns, you may need either one or both. If you feel happy with your breast volume but not their sagging appearance, a breast lift can help. If you want breast augmentation but have significant loose skin, Dr. Brenman may recommend a lift as part of your procedure.

What is Recovery Like From Breast Augmentation?

Recovery time depends in part on the type of procedure. You can expect to have some soreness for the first few days. Most people can resume light activities and return to work in about a week. More strenuous activities should wait two to three weeks to allow your breasts time to heal.

This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
