Addressing Sagging Skin with a Neck Lift

A neck lift is one of the best treatments to address one of the biggest signs of aging: sagging neck skin. As we get older, collagen and elastin levels begin to break down, resulting in facial skin starting to respond to gravity’s pull. Over time, that results in sagging skin around the neck and jawline – and that sagging skin can be difficult to correct without a neck lift.   At The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Scott A. Brenman specializes in minimal incision neck lifts. This type of neck lift is performed in such a way to minimize the appearance of surgical scars. More specifically, the neck lift incisions are placed behind the ears and (if needed) directly underneath the chin. These incisions are easy to hide, but they also provide Dr. Brenman with the ability to access and reposition neck muscles, thus helping the patient achieve a younger-looking appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

Wondering if a neck lift is the best solution to help you look younger? The best candidates for a neck lift procedure may have moderate to severe signs of neck aging. The most common signs of neck aging include excessively saggy skin, jowls (or “turkey neck”), deep lines and wrinkles around the neck, neck bands, and crepey skin.   If you’re interested in a neck lift, keep in mind that you should be a healthy nonsmoker or at least willing to quit for a minimum of six weeks before the neck lift procedure. You should also have realistic expectations for the outcome of your neck lift.
This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
