How Much Time Off Do I Need for a Facelift?

Let’s face it: You’re definitely interested in undergoing a facelift procedure. You’re tired of dealing with skin creams and serums that promise you the world but barely deliver anything. You’re want to address wrinkles and sagging skin – and you want the outcome to be as natural-looking as possible. That’s why you might be a good candidate for a facelift procedure. But if the thought of going through surgery makes you nervous, we understand. After all, how much time off will you need for a facelift?

Recovery Time for a Facelift

While each patient is different, in general, you can expect to do most of your facelift recovery within the span of two to three months. This doesn’t mean that you’ll need all that time off; in fact, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons estimates that most patients should be presentable at work after about 10 to 14 days. So, at most, you’ll need to take about two weeks off from work.

How to Have a Healthy Facelift Recovery

Part of ensuring that you’re able to go back to work so soon involves having a healthy facelift recovery. That’s why we recommend following these steps to have the most successful facelift recovery possible:
  • Expect to keep a bandage around your face for the first few days after your facelift procedure. This is done in order to help minimize swelling, as well as preserve your facial muscles’ new positioning.
  • Plan on having some help at home in the immediate days after your facelift surgery. As you’ll likely be on pain medication for the first few days, you’ll want someone who can help you walk to the bathroom and cook meals for you while you heal.
  • Don’t push yourself to recover faster than your body? It’s tempting to want to get back to your normal routine immediately after your facelift, but give yourself time to adjust. You’ll be back to your regular schedule sooner if you have a healthy recovery!
