Breast Augmentation – Reasons for Augmentation – Pennsylvania
Published on February 14, 2014 by Scott Brenman
Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, is a relatively brief outpatient procedure that can last 1 to 2 hours. The patient is not required to stay overnight and is allowed to be taken home.
There are many reasons that women personally choose to undergo breast augmentation, but the procedure generally has three purposes:
-Primary reconstruction to replace breast tissues damaged by trauma, disease or failed anatomic development
-Primary augmentation to aesthetically augment the size, form, and feel of the breasts
-Revision and reconstruction to revise or correct the outcome of a previous breast reconstruction surgery
The operating room time of breast augmentation surgery is affected by the procedure type, the incision technique, the type of implant, materials of the implant, and the pectoral location of the implant pocket.
Breast augmentation is one of the many procedures offered at The Pennsylvania Centre For Plastic Surgery, which is headed by the board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Scott Brenman.
