As time goes by, you may notice your eyelids begin to droop. Excess skin, puffiness, and wrinkles around the eyes are common signs of aging that can make you look tired or angry. Dr. Scott Brenman specializes in upper and lower blepharoplasty to restore bright, youthful eyes.
What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)?
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. This surgery can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids or both, depending on the patient’s needs. The procedure involves removing excess skin and fat from the eyelids, resulting in a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Eyelid surgery can often be performed under local anesthesia, though general anesthesia may be used if it’s combined with other procedures such as a facelift. Dr. Brenman will make incisions within the natural creases of the eyelid or under the lower lashes. He will then remove or tighten skin, muscle, and fat to create a smoother, lifted appearance.View More Patient Results

The recovery time for blepharoplasty varies depending on the extent of the surgery and the individual patient’s healing process. You should expect bruising, swelling, and some discomfort for the first week or so after eyelid surgery. Dr. Brenman will instruct you on how to manage discomfort with pain medication and cold compresses. Keeping your head elevated for the first few days after surgery can help minimize swelling. Patients can usually return to work and normal activities within a week. You may need to wait two weeks or more to resume strenuous activities. If you wear contact lenses, you won’t be able to wear them for a week or two after blepharoplasty. Full recovery from blepharoplasty can take several weeks. Results of Blepharoplasty
The results of blepharoplasty typically become visible after a few weeks as the worst of the swelling and bruising fades. You’ll see the full results of blepharoplasty when all swelling subsides in approximately six months. The results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting, and patients can expect to enjoy the benefits of the surgery for many years. An upper eyelid lift typically lasts five to seven years, while the results of a lower eyelid lift can last a lifetime.Blepharoplasty Consultations Available
