How Much Does an Abdominoplasty Cost?

Weight loss or pregnancy can result in loose skin and/or hard-to-remove fat in the abdominal area. An abdominoplasty removes excess skin and fat to give you a flatter, tighter abdomen. You cannot exercise or diet away loose, sagging skin, but abdominoplasty can remove it to reveal a more sculpted figure.

What is an Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck?

An abdominoplasty, also called a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat for a tighter abdomen. Many people seek an abdominoplasty after significant weight loss or pregnancy. Once the abdominal skin has become stretched and sagging, a tummy tuck offers the best way to tighten it.

How is an Abdominoplasty Performed?

Dr. Brenman performs a tummy tuck using an incision low on the abdomen. When the scar heals, you can easily hide it with clothing or even a bikini. He will tighten the abdominal skin, remove the excess, and then use liposuction to contour and shape the area. Since pregnancy often causes separation of the abdominal wall muscles, an abdominoplasty tightens them to make your abdomen look firmer and flatter.

How Much Does an Abdominoplasty Cost?

The cost of a tummy tuck differs depending on where you live and which surgeon you choose. A tummy tuck can cost between $3,000 and $12,000, with a nationwide average of $6,154. This price will not include other expenses like anesthesia and post-surgical care, so make sure to get an accurate estimate from your surgeon.

What is Recovery Like After a Tummy Tuck?

You will have a support garment to wear after surgery and for up to a few weeks afterward. We recommend that you plan to take two to three weeks off from work to recover from your abdominoplasty. You will need to avoid lifting anything heavier than five pounds for up to a month, so you will need assistance with some tasks. You can resume most activities after four to six weeks.

What Results Will I See After Abdominoplasty?

You will see tighter abdominal skin immediately after surgery, but you will still have swelling and bruising. Swelling can take several months to resolve completely before you can enjoy your full results. You may notice decreased back pain and improved posture from tightened abdominal muscles.

Am I a Good Candidate for Abdominoplasty?

If pregnancy or weight loss has left you with sagging abdominal skin, you may be a good candidate for a tummy tuck. Ideal candidates are in good health and understand the benefits and limitations of the procedure.
