What are the Best Foods to Eat After Tummy Tuck?

Pregnancy and weight loss can leave you with unwanted excess skin that diet and exercise can not tighten. If you struggle with excess or sagging skin that leaves you frustrated and less confident, a tummy tuck may be the solution.

How Does a Tummy Tuck Work?

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat to give a slimmer and sculpted appearance to the abdomen. A tummy tuck may be paired with liposuction to achieve even better results.

During a tummy tuck, Dr. Brenman will make an incision across the lower abdomen, ensuring it is as low as possible so you can easily hide it when wearing clothing or a swimsuit. He will then remove excess skin and tighten the abdominal muscles that can become loose after pregnancy or weight gain.

What is Recovery Like From a Tummy Tuck?

After a tummy tuck, Dr. Brenman recommends you take at least two to three weeks off work or longer if your work is labor intensive. During recovery, you must avoid strenuous activities such as vigorous exercise and lifting heavy objects.

You may require assistance with your daily tasks for the first few days of your recovery. After four to six weeks of recovery, Dr. Brenman will assess if you are ready to return to your usual activities. If you have any questions or concerns during recovery, be sure to reach out to Dr. Brenman so he can address them.
