Mommy Makeover
You love your little bundle of joy – but you’re not exactly in love with what happened to your body after pregnancy, giving birth, and breastfeeding. You follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect on your new tummy pooch. Plus, it doesn’t help with your breasts, which may feel more deflated after breastfeeding.
If this description resonates with you, it might be time to discover the Mommy Makeover procedure at The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting, PA.
What is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is a combination of surgical procedures that help to address some of the most common cosmetic concerns of both new and experienced mothers, including:
- A stubborn stomach pooch
- Deflated and/or drooping breasts
- Excess fat

Candidates for a Mommy Makeover
Ideal candidates for a Mommy Makeover are healthy non-smoking women who want to go back to their pre-baby bodies. Candidates should have been finished breastfeeding for at least six months. The best candidates should be finished growing their families and not plan on having additional children in the future.
How Does It Work?
The Mommy Makeover is highly tailored to each individual, so it may be as simple as performing a breast augmentation or as extensive as a breast lift with an abdominoplasty. Either way, all procedures are performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia. The procedure will help correct damaged abdominal muscles, address loose abdominal skin, correct and restore drooping breasts, and, if the patient chooses, increase breast size with implants.
For more information about each surgery involved in the Mommy Makeover, please visit each procedure’s specific page.
Results*
Results are usually visible after the first month of surgery, with final results expected within six to twelve months. Results should be long-lasting, although patients should expect some changes as a result of aging and any potential weight changes.
Recovery*
As a Mommy Makeover is performed as an outpatient procedure it is necessary to arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery and stay with you, at least the first night following the procedure. Depending on the surgery you have undergone, you may need to wear compression garments or other surgical clothes to help reduce swelling and bruising. You should take at least a week off of work; patients who work in more manual jobs should take two weeks or more off.
