Your Facelift Recovery Duration

The average facelift recovery duration takes about four to six weeks, but that doesn’t mean you have to take all that time off. In fact, most patients only need to take about one to two weeks off before they’re able to return to work.

You’ll do the vast majority of your healing during the first week of your recovery, so make sure you clear out your calendar for this pivotal period of time.

How to Speed Up Your Facelift Recovery

1. Quit smoking.

Your plastic surgeon will ask you to quit smoking about six weeks before your facelift surgery. You should continue to refrain from smoking during your recovery, as nicotine can cause poor healing around your incisions resulting in excessive scarring.

2. Relax.

The best way to speed up your facelift recovery is, ironically, to slow down. Take the time to relax and devote your body to healing. If you push yourself too soon to get back to your normal routine, you could be putting your results at risk.

3. Follow your plastic surgeon’s recovery plan.

Your plastic surgeon will provide you with a customized plan for your best recovery possible. Follow it right down to the letter, including attending all of your follow-up appointments with your surgeon.
