What is Calf Augmentation Surgery?

Calf augmentation is a surgical procedure that’s designed to increase the size and shape of underdeveloped calf muscles. The surgery uses silicone implants to add natural-looking volume and shape to the calf region. Calf augmentation surgery presents a long-lasting solution for clients who may feel self-conscious about the size of their calf muscles.

Candidates for Calf Augmentation

Calf augmentation candidates are usually individuals who feel self-conscious about their calf muscles. Ideal candidates may have underdeveloped or deformed calf muscles. Candidates should be healthy non-smokers who have realistic expectations for the procedure’s outcomes.

How Does It Work?

The surgery usually takes about an hour to complete and is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. During the procedure, Dr. Brenman will insert a silicone implant into the lower leg area to replicate a natural calf shape that suits your body type.

Results*

Results are immediately visible, although patients shouldn’t expect to see final results for at least six months. This allows the swelling and bruising to go down, at which point, the new and final calf shape will emerge.

Recovery*

During the recovery period, patients will need to wear a compression garment for at least two weeks, which helps manage the post-op swelling and bruising. Most patients may not resume exercise until four to six weeks after surgery, although Dr. Brenman may encourage light walking around Week 3. You should avoid drinking alcohol for at least three weeks after surgery.
