Neck Lift

Your neck skin is often one of the first places to show signs of aging, thanks to repetitive head movements. What’s more, aging facial fat pads tend to drift downwards which ends up creating sagging skin and jowls around the jawline. To help correct these signs of aging, you may need a minimal incision neck lift. This surgical procedure helps tighten skin around the neck without altering your natural appearance.

At The Pennsylvania Centre for Plastic Surgery in Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting, PA, our board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Scott A. Brenman specializes in the minimal incision neck lift, which helps reduce post-operative scarring.

What Is a Minimal Incision Neck Lift?

A minimal incision neck lift is a special type of surgical procedure that focuses on removing sagging neck skin and excess fat – all while minimizing the appearance of surgical scars. A minimal incision neck lift is the best option for patients who want to enjoy their neck lift results without feeling self-conscious about post-operative scarring.

Candidates for a Minimal Incision Neck Lift

Candidates for a minimal incision neck lift will have moderate to severe sagging around the neck, as well as the appearance of jowls around the neckline. Candidates should be healthy non-smokers who have realistic expectations for the procedure’s outcomes.

How Does It Work?

The minimal incision neck lift is performed by making small incisions behind the ears and potentially underneath the chin. These access points allow your plastic surgeon to pull muscles taut, remove excess fat, and trim away sagging skin. The end results will reveal a more contoured jawline and youthful neck.

Results*

You may notice results right away, especially if you had significant skin droopage around the neck. However, you should expect your final results to be visible after 3 to 6 months, depending on your rate of healing.

Recovery*

Patients usually take about a week off from their work to recover from the procedure. You may want to take more time off if you work a physically demanding job. After the first week when you return to work most patients find they are able to cover up their remaining bruises and swelling with makeup. You may be able to return to your normal fitness routine after 4-6 weeks, depending on Dr. Brenman’s recommendation.
