Brow Lift vs. Botox®: Everything You Need to Know

The aging process can lead to lines and wrinkles, including horizontal lines across the forehead and vertical ones between the brows. Fortunately, you have several options to achieve a smoother, more youthful-looking brow area. Botox® and a brow lift can correct these problems in very different ways. Many factors will help determine which is best for you.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is an injectable treatment that relaxes facial muscles. It is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles in many areas. Along with the brows and forehead, Botox® can also be used to address crow’s feet. This safe, effective treatment can help you look noticeably younger and more relaxed.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a surgical procedure to correct the brows and forehead. It addresses concerns like drooping brows, sagging forehead skin, and deep wrinkles. It uses a few small, hidden incisions to lift the skin and underlying structures, tightening and smoothing your forehead and restoring your brow arches.

Brow Lift vs. Botox®: Everything You Need to Know

Only a consultation can determine what type of treatment will work best for you. They will consider factors such as:

What Do They Treat?

Botox® treats lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It relaxes facial muscles so they allow the skin to become smooth. A brow lift can target deeper issues such as loose skin or deep forehead creases. In general, a brow lift addresses more significant signs of aging

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

Botox® is performed by an expert injector and takes as little as 15 minutes. A surgeon performs a brow lift under general anesthesia, which can take a few hours. You will need someone to take you home after a brow lift, while you can leave on your own after Botox®.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Botox® injections last three to four months for most people. You can have regularly scheduled treatments to maintain your results. Brow lift results typically last ten to fifteen years, and you may or may not choose to have a revision.

What is the Recovery Time?

Botox® does not require any downtime, and most people return to their usual activities immediately. A brow lift usually requires up to a week off work. You will also need to limit strenuous physical activity for several weeks.

How Much Does it Cost?

A brow lift costs significantly more than Botox® for the initial procedure. However, you will have to pay for Botox® every three to four months. Each option works better for different people. Financing is available to help pay for your brow lift.
