How Often Should You Get Botox® Treatments?

Botox® has long been seen as one of the best ways to tackle wrinkles and fine lines in the face. It’s a relatively non-invasive injectable that works to provide impressive anti-aging results. Results are seen within a week, and one treatment is often all that’s needed to see lengthy improvements.  However, many people return for regular Botox® injections. It is perfectly safe to continue having these injections, though you should be aware of how often to space them apart.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is an injectable solution made with botulinum toxin type A. This is a neurotoxin that interacts with the mussels of expression and confuses the signals sent to them. It mainly aims to stop signaling movements to the nerve endings where the solution is injected. These nerve endings are carefully chosen as they cause the small facial muscles to contract, causing frequent movements. It’s these repetitive movements that cause wrinkles and fine lines from forming on your face. When the nerve no longer allows repetitive movement, your face stays relaxed and looks a lot smoother.

Typical Botox® Schedule

You will see impressive results just days after your first Botox® treatment. However, these effects won’t last forever – they tend to only stay around for up to four months. As it happens, this is the suggested timeframe to leave between appointments. It gives your face enough time to adapt to the treatment, meaning the results are even better next time. You may see that they last longer and longer between appointments, allowing you to leave more time until your next treatment.  Dr. Brenman recommends that one treatment every three to four months is ideal for most patients. You might not even need Botox® this frequently, but you should definitely avoid it any sooner than that. If you don’t leave at least three months between appointments, you run the risk of using too much Botox®, which can lead to unnatural results.

Benefits of Botox®

Botox® injections are proven to help you look much younger after one treatment. They iron out fine lines and get rid of the deepest wrinkles caused by muscle activity. You’ll struggle to find a more effective or fast-acting treatment than Botox®. Also, it has the benefit of being a non-surgical procedure with virtually no recovery time. Dr. Brenman suggests that all patients take 24-hours from exercise after the treatment, just to prevent any complications. Following this, you can return to the rigors of your daily life!

Am I a Candidate for Botox®?

You will be a candidate for Botox® if you have wrinkles or fine lines that cause an aged appearance. This treatment will restore vitality to your face and make you look much younger. Botox® tends to have the best impact on forehead lines and crow’s feet near the eyes. If you have either of these issues, you will be an ideal candidate. Seeing as the whole process revolves around injections, you might not be a good candidate if you have a fear of needles, even though the needles are extremely small. Still, it’s worth talking to Dr. Brenman and the team as we will do everything we can to make you feel calm and relaxed during the short treatment.   “After losing 87 pounds I decided I would treat myself and get a tummy tuck that I have been wanting for some time. I researched and thought Dr Scot Brenman would be best. Well suffice it to say I am not thrilled with my results. Ultimately my tummy is flatter which was what I wanted but my belly button is 2 inches above the incision line which I hate! He promised lipo which til this day I’m betting he didn’t do! Also his aftercare was thee WORSE! He never followed up with me after the removal of my drains! No way will he receive another one of my hard earned dimes!” *
This visit was a pleasure! Dr. Brenman thoroughly explained my options and did seem rushed. He answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making my decision. Gina was friendly and helpful in facilitating scheduling etc. I feel confident in my choice.
